The save dialogs in gimp detect the file type by the extension of the file name automatically. So if you name your file "myfile.xcf" it will be a gimp xcf file, if you name it "myfile.tif" it will be a TIFF file, "myfile.jpg" for JPG In your case you can "save as..." with, for example, "my
