The save dialogs in gimp detect the file type by the extension of the
file name automatically. So if you name your file "myfile.xcf" it will
be a gimp xcf file, if you name it "myfile.tif" it will be a TIFF file,
"myfile.jpg" for JPG....
In your case you can "save as..." with, for example, "myfile.xcf" the
first time, then just "save" (because you don't need to give it a new
name).
When you are done you just have to:
"save as..." with "myfile.tif" as file name for the tiff copy.
"save as..." again with "myfile.jpg" as file name for the jpg copy.
As Olivier just said 2.8 version "save" and "save as.." are only for xcf
files, but "export..." will detect the file type the same way "save
as.." is doing right now.
