I can record using `arecord -c2 > test.wav'. It also records if I type
arecord without -c2 option but the sound is *very* low. And the same
thing occurs when I try to make a Skype test call.

I just think that maybe in Ebuild the keyword is ~amd64 what the ebuild
maintainer** do , it means that the maintainer just tested in arch amd64
not x86. if you want to install in x86,you can modify ebuild and add
~x86,maybe it works ,that is my opinion.
