Hostname and domain-name must have a full stop in between.

maybe the dns_domain setting is wrong i have this in my config but iam
not sure if this really sets the domainname
you can also try setting this in /etc/hosts

On my system, yes, but backup /etc/resolv.conf and try it out with
restarting /etc/init.d/net.eth0.
