Thanks Hendrik for your hard work on the project and for dealing with the
graduation process.

Awesome. My +1 as well.
Thanks for the feedback.

I think we reached consensus, so let me close this vote and report the
(formal) result:
There are 11 +1 votes (more than 5 of them binding), no 0 and no -1
votes (one was withdrawn)
So this vote passed, we will submit the resolution to the board.

I say let it go.
My own guess is that unless there is a strong recruitment effort it will
soon become unreleasable, but, as Roman points out, there are mechanisms to
deal with that.

So what do we have to do to draw this vote to a resolution? It seems that
the general consensus is positive to graduate, but there's some concerns
over the size of the podling. It satisfies the minimum practical TLP.

Like I said: FWIW I see no problem with a project with a PMC count of
3 active members. We have board reports for a reason (should that active

FWIW: I'm honestly very relaxed about the # of committers. All the project
has to have is an active PMC of at least 3. That's th

Is there anyone who has a strong feeling that Johnzon shouldn't graduate?

I don’t see any value in keeping Johnzon in incubation.
The project seems to be ticking along, with several releases, frequent commits,
and a low excitement but active community.

I'd like to further elaborate why we did not choose to graduate under Geronimo
or TomEE.
* TomEE: Johnzon is not only bound to a JavaEE container but could really be
used separately, e.g. in CXF. It would be kind of weird if we need to do a
Johnzon release in TomEE first, then build CXF to
I agree with Justin, there is no real benefit (either for the podling
nor for apache/incubator) when Johnzon stays in the Incubator.
We have an active, friendly, diverse and responsive community, we had
regular releases, we promote Johnzon [1] and Jira tickets are

Good morning!
Of course Johnzon could be bigger.
And as said before: there are 3 active committers (not 2!) and an active PMC.
Plus there are at least 2 further people who contributed patches and are on our
watch-list.
I also believe that we are a really friendly community :)
That said I have
Hi,
I agree the project doesn’t have a large visible active community but I’m also
not sure what the point of having Johnzon staying in the incubator. They tick
along nicely, they certainly don’t need the incubator to check their releases
and they understand the Apache Way of doing things. What

I have to agree with Ted's synopsis. After reviewing the podling's
proposal compared to current date, it seems that there's actually been a
dramatic decrease in committers since inception. I didn't realize that
when originally looking.
I do however want to clarify - I think Johnzon is mature. T
My suggestion would be to work on building community first.
Not pulling in new committers and PMC members is evidence of a serious
community bug. It could be lack of marketing, unfriendly natives,
cliquishness or an idea that just doesn't have legs. Probably it is
something I didn't think of.

So, what are the next steps?
Do we have to postpone the graduation and try to bring up more contributors
before?
Or do we want to still graduate and work out the community growth after?

Niali,
I don't disagree with your assessment. In actuality, Johnzon has only
added one committer in its 22 months in the incubator, who later joined
their PPMC and is now slated to be their VP. However, adding committers
isn't the only form of community growth we expect to see when graduating.

Johnzon reports for June, Sept & Dec 2015 all listed "adding new
