Hi Jeff,
they different parcellations based on different anatomical conventions. The
aparc.annot is simpler (fewer units) and gyral based, while the
aparc.a2005s has more units divided into sulci and gyri.

Dear Sam,
you might want to try other tools that can read and convert DICOMs,
like (x)medcon, mricron, SPM5/SPM8 (if you have MATLAB available).

matlab's dicomread can handle 8 bit images, so if you have matlab, one could
write a script to convert your dicoms to mgh format (using save_mgh).

This might not work with our tools. As the message implies, they cannot
unpack 8bit images (I think it is fixed at 16). I'm not sure how to
change it (or if it can be changed). We use a 3rd party dicom reader,
and it is not an easy thing modify.
sorry

Hi Sam,
you can try like this below,
umount cdrecorder
cd dicom;ls
cd ##; ls
output will be 2 strings of numbers
unpacksdcmdir src /mnt/cdrom/dicom/INITIAL#/1STof2#s -targ ./ scanonly
unpacklog
Repeat command line with second number
Make a cfg.file
Save as cfg.file in SUBJECTs folder
Hello all,
Thank you for your quick replies to my previous posts. One more question. I
am wondering what the difference is and if I should be taking average thickness
measurements for cortical regions from lh.aparc.a2005s.stats or lh.aparc.stats.
I think the main difference is that lh.aparc

Hi Diana,
you can use mris_anatomical_stats for this.
