nd above, 486 is not supported :(
Not true. UMBPCI is for motherboards with PCI chipsets. It worked well on my
last FreeDOS box, AMD K6-II with some Intel chipset. It could work on 486s
with PCI chipsets (some newer 486s). Of course, not all PCI chipsets are
supported.

Well, you will be able to get support from FreeDOS users community :)

MS-DOS 5 and 6 HIMEM.SYS works on 286 machines, I have used it on my first PC
(286) long time ago.
In MS-DOS 7.10 (Win98) even kernel runs only on 386+ machines.
Are there any command on FreeDOS that would halt or reboot the machines?
Though I know people always directly shutdown the machines when they
use MS-DOS, I think FreeDOS can provide this feature.
FDAPM does that.

I'm working on a redesign of the FreeDOS.org web site. Well, not so
much a redesign, but a makeover to use xhtml instead of tables. This
will make it easier when/if I do a full redesign on the site, since I
can just change the CSS to create a new design.
Table design vs. CSS design and HTML

1) I want to use Latvian service
2) I want to have POP3 access, Hotmail has it?
3) Hotmail gives 100M for free?
I also have GMail account but it doesn't work with my Opera/7.54.

Theoretically, anybody has access to the MS-DOS sources. At least some time ago
they were freely downloadable from various websites.

This is not only a problem with Descent. Such problem exists with other
installers running under FreeDOS kernel too. For example, you can't install
MS Network Client for DOS and, if I remember correctly, GalaxyWrite too, when
running under FreeDOS kernel.

This could be a problem, since each laptop manufacturer have different
external CD-ROM/Floppy drive, so, for example, IBM external CD-ROM will not
work with HP laptop.
