I had a lot of trouble installing FreeDOS onto an old laptop, and here is
how I got it to work.
Do you have a Windows computer? I have only tested this using Windows, but
it should work on a Mac. I'm not sure about Linux, as I haven't run any
virtualization software on Linux before.
I installed O
I don't know if this is of any help, but I seem to recall running DOS on an
old Dell laptop and pressing a key combination, (Fn and F8 possibly, but I
wouldn't put money on it) to switch to the external monitor. Being a HP,
the key would be different, (maybe F2) but it's got to be worth a try...

I've got a similar setup, however I use WordPerfect 5.1. I really am too
easily distracted!

Sorry I couldn't make this one, which I've been looking forward to.
Something, (football) came up! I'll see you all next time. 😁

I've installed freedos because I'm writing my second novel, but I'm easily
distracted, so I wanted a machine with a decent word processor,
(Wordperfect 5.1) and no internet access or games to distract me. I have
deleted the games folder, but accidentally installed MS Word 5, which will
do the job.
I've decided that it's probably easier to just boot from the usb stick, and
then I can use the hard drive for something else.

5.1 and my distraction-free writing machine
will be finished!
Oh yeah, and I have to uninstall the games. :-)

Hi,
I installed freedos on my IBM Thinkpad T43 and I installed a usb driver,
which works. Sort of.
I can access a 2gb usb stick, which is formatted to FAT32, and that's
great, but I want to use a different stick.
This is where the problems begin. It's a 128gb stick. If I find a way to
create a F
I have an IBM Thinkpad T43 and also either an R40 or R60, (I'd have to go
upstairs and check) so if your laptop is either one of those, let me
know and I'll try an install.
