It seems like a HW problem. I would run a memory test, check the

factors, including kernel changes, different stripe sizes on the RAID, "my.cnf"
tuning, libmap.conf, and although we can gain a bit here and there, we can't account for
the doubling of performance with Gentoo.

upgrade Suse 9.2. Data transfer was crashing. After some *research* I
changed the 8139 and problem was solved. The server was on 3c905B.

wasn't able to build kde2 for a week, configure failed in
kdebase2, now found ~200 k*.h lying around, dammit. hope it works now.
(wouldn't it be better to put all the kde heritage under /kdex ).

How can I copy cd on FreeBSD 4.2-stable?
I have cd-writer on DELL 5000e clone.
from dmesg
acd0: CD-RW at ata1-master using PIO4
I tried cdrecord & cdrdao but thay work just with SCSI.
How I can enable ide-cd-writer on FreeBSD?

Typ
I have used intel's softset2 utility to configure the card to the same
settings. The lights on the card are blinking during boot.
Unfortunately the card is not detected on the boot (I verified that on
3 different cards). Any ideas? Thanks!
