Be sure to consider the "Notes" section of the hier(7) manual. If at all possible, make provisions for installers who don't want to install things the standard way or, since it's so sketchy, your interpretation of the standard way. Some variable definitions at the top of an installation script,

Hi, I'm looking for a standard/official specification for the filesystem hierarchy used on FreeBSD (and all BSDs) regarding commercial products. Conforming to hier(7) the PREFIX (/usr/local) location should be used for local packages. And there the /usr hierarchy should be used. Let's suppose I
