I have been unable to produce the panic on my test machine.
My current stumbling block is that I do not know how to create
the `modeule' files, specifically /modules/vn.ko. My previous
patch is *not* a valid solution, but does indicate to me that
the problem probably lies in a missing BUF_KERNPRO
