It was interrupt 25 that I was thinking of, just give it a buffer and how many
sectors you want and no more int 13 loop dance. but I never was able to get it
to work

Ah ok. It's probably worth noting that the MacPro1,1 is a bit weird in that
it's generally a fully 64 bit system, *except* it has only 32 bit EFI.
Apparently, FreeBSD does not support EFI32, see #2151

No luck. I retried with debug.acpi.disabled="thermal" in my loader.conf and
redid the tests and didn't notice the behavior changing. Still gets stuck on
the lowest frequency until a reboot.
