The steps given earlier are not exactly good. Try it this way -
1. Select the cell A1
2. Data --> Data Validation --> Settings
3. From the Allow dropdown list, select Custom.
4. Enter the following COUNTIF formula in the Formula box:
=COUNTIF(A:A,A1)=1
5. Select the Error Alert tab.

when we enter the same no again it have to give t message NO ALREADY EXIST.
