Step 1 : Select the entire sheet.
Step 2: Press Ctrl + 1 or Click format on menu bar then click Cells
Step 3: Go to Protection tab and uncheck on "Locked" then click ok
Step 4: Select the cells that you want to be protected
Step 5: Go to Tools > Protection > Protect Sheet
Step 6: Uncheck the "Selec

You can protect few cells. pls follow the below steps:
1. First select all cells in sheet(ctrl+A) and go to format cells(ctrl
+1) - protection tab - untick the locked cells -ckick OK
2. Now go to worksheet and select which cells you want protect -

yes sure you can do it by selecting the whole sheet and removing the
check on protect sheet, then select the cells you want to protect and
clicking the protect and then protect sheet with a password so that
you can protect the specific cells in your sheet. if you need any
