Never mind, I figured it out. It came down to RTFM (specifically, Gmail uses nonstandard ports). Wierdly, when I configured Thunderbird according to the blow-by-blow description on the Gmail site, Evo suddenly started working. A Gconf thing perhaps? poc PS It still doesn't excuse Evo from hangin
