It will be interesting to hear from someone who has done that... but I put
two new synth boards in the K3 of W9FAM, and he is THRILLED at being able
to run QRQ without having to be in the QRQ mode, thus being able to use
RIT, without degradation of the CW his K3 is putting out.

I am a CW operator, but wanted to be able to work SSB from time to time. I
heard so many K3 users suggest the Yamaha CM500, that I tried one... in

I have used QSK for thousands of QSOs since I got my K3 4 years ago. I
have seen no changes at all.. but I am not a real QRQ op. I usually run
about 28 wpm... sometimes about 32, and very rarely a bit higher than
that. I did put in the new Synth boards, and have verified that QSK is now

I do not yet have a KPA500, but did recently set one up for a friend.
Although the standby/operate function is not remembered on a per band
basis, I am not sure why that might be an issue.
If your concern is that you do not want to inadvertently run 500 watts
on 30 meters, the per band driv

I do not use the SVGA card in my P3, but have two new monitors in my

Like many, I am curious to learn if/how this issue will be solved for those

You may be onto something... I have never tried SSB with the KAT500.

I do not believe that is the problem. My K3 "tells" the KAT500 what
frequency it is on as soon as I change frequency on the K3 (or the
KPA500). If not cabled appropriately, then, of course the KAT500 needs a
bit of RF to know what frequency it is on.
The problem is that for some users,
