I have a shell script that I run each session to return settings to the
way I like them.
This portion of the script worked perfectly in 13.04 but fails in 13.10:
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences auto-raise false
When I run this command at a prompt I do not get
I've noticed that the same thing happens when using Xubuntu (XFCE),
which suggests that it's nothing to do with Unity but has something to
do with the underlying layers in the window system. Since X is a
networked window system, you may expect something like this to happen,
but I don't remember see
Upon upgrade to 13.10 from 13.04, all of the icons in the taskbar at the
upper right disappeared after login. That is, when the login screen was

I do not know since when the gear menu got lost, but since some time the
gear menu in the top, right corner is not displayed. The other
notification symbols are still shown.
In the attached screenshot you can see the default notification icons
and the one from radiotray.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS: The behaviour seems to be arbitrary, and it appears
impossible to predict when it will happen, but it is always upon a
"failed" window resize. It just happened to me again, and has been
happening a few times a day the past couple of weeks.

Finally got around to updating to 13.10 and find my patch no longer
works. As Maxim stated com.canonical.Unity.Panel is not being used. So,
now my ppa just whitelists everything.

Found the issue. I built a few libraries from source earlier in
/usr/local/lib . indicator-datetime-service found those libraries before
the system libraries in /usr/lib for some reason. It shouldn't have done
that.

I do have libgtk-3.0 installed and I see the improvement. I was editing
tons of photos with gimp mostly using the menu to to level correction
and since I installed the proposed libgtk-3.0 package it is noticeable
faster.

proposed as an apt source and to apt-get install the binary, otherwise
if you download and dpkg -i the debs you probably need libgail and
libgtk-3-common as well

I have the same problem. After some time of use (some hours to some
days, after some suspend/resume cycles) compiz and Xorg both reach
around 500MB used RAM each. "compiz --replace" frees up compiz' used
memory, but Xorg stays the same.
I had the same problem since forever (starting with natty and
I have the same problem, does anybody need some more log information to
make a finale descision about this bug. As far as I understand the
comments here downgrading to a lower gimp version will not solve the
problem.
