Turns out this was a self inflicted wound.. Seems that NOD32 (version 4) and Thunderbird with multiple IMAP accounts has a problem with 'duplication of emails'.. So low and behold disabling NOD32 inside TB solved the problems.. Nothing to do with dovecot.. Seems on Monday everyone had time t
