I'd make a difference between zones supposed to be loaded but not
available (SERVFAIL) vs zones intentionally absent (REFUSED).

I see parallels between the responses from some registrars to my recent
words here and the position of Network Solution Inc in the 1990s on

Sorry, I mispoke when I said glue record. It's not a glue record that
needs to exist, BUT there does need to be a nameserver defined for that
hostname at the registry before you can delegate a .com or .net domain
to it.
As I said, we can set this up for you (original poster) if you want.
Just shoo
Hello DNS gurus,
I'm writing a minimalistic DNS server (in python, using the dnspython
module), whose purpose will simply be to provide AXFR for a fixed set of
zones. The clients will be BIND and/or NSD. It will send NOTIFY messages
to the clients, and provide (some) responses.
As far as I c

Of course. There is no need for glue since the name server's names are
I think what he means is that the other TLD ( ie .com ) does not yet have a
glue record in place for the .info nameserver - thus it will not allow domains
to be delegated to it.
He needs a registrar to create the glue recs - and it doesn't need to be the
parent registrar of the .info domain

Why? It should work. For instance, the name servers of linux.com are
under ".org".

yes, and they live in co-existence while serving their respective communities.
The thoughts and input generated here is very helpful als
Hello,
My domain name, say nsbeta.info, has registered the nameservers in
info's servers.
So, the domain nsbeta.info can use the nameservers of itself as its
auth servers.
But, a domain in other TLD, say example.com, can't use the nameservers
of nsbeta.info as its auth servers.
How can I regi

And they ask for updates:
"If your registrar currently accepts DS records, please send an email . .
." I would think registrars would want to be included.
Do you know of a more complete list? I'm
