I have a collection of shapes that I would like to donate to the dia

Hi Tim,
If you are using Latex you should seriously consider exporting to and
including ".eps" files. They export without problems and Latex can
size/scale them to your hearts desire with no side-effects. Scaling them to
a percentage of the text width can give a consistent look to your document.
This is good news! The best place to put them is to file a dia bug report
in bugzilla.gnome.org (enhancement).
