Thanks for the report! Filed a bug and wrote an example [1] that has
currentIndex set and appends model dynamically. Hope that it helps in your case.

Some update on the issue. It seems the problem using modified jabber plugin
is, that I have to write the password before creating the account.
Connection manager the tries to use this password to log in, which
obviously fails.
I modified it a little bit to be able to leave the password field blank
