[dev] Why dwm or wmii over xmonad, etc., or not?

Hi Everyone, So I started using wmii a couple months ago. It was the first time I wasn't using GNOME and it's default stuff and I did so because a friend recommended wmii to me. So now I want to know what you all think. Why are dwm and wmii better than other tiling WMs? Or not? And what are you

I set the keyboard layout to Dvorak with the KEYBOARD variable in rc.conf. When I start wmii though all my keyboard shortcuts are set to the hardware keys, which are QWERTY. I'm using Arch Linux and I installed xbindkeys, or at least some X package, to get the shortcuts to bind to the software

Adding /.*/ group=0 to the bottom of my rules file seemed to fix the problem. However, I don't get the impression that that is the correct way to do it. Is there no global setting somewhere to make the default behavior that it shouldn't group? -Eitan

I see. I didn't know I was that outdated. I installed wmii through the Ubuntu Software Center. Assumed it would give me the latest version, though I DID notice a lot of people talking about 3.9. I just thought it was the latest unstable release. Is there a way to upgrade, sort of thing? -Eitan

I'm getting the feeling that I should be using a UTF-8 supportive font and that 'fixed' is not such a font? Is there another font I can set in my wmiirc that does support UTF-8? -Eitan

I chose python because I am extremely new to linux and scripting so I just went with python. $LANG = en_US.utf8 I printed that directly to the statusbar so I'd know it's the one for wmii and not just my local cli instance. -Eitan

Is there a way to put your computer to sleep/suspend it in wmii? I've been 'quit'ing and suspending from the Ubuntu login screen but it would be nice to be able to keep all my apps and such open. Even just being able to switch users instead of logging off. -Eitan

I'm using wmii with Ubuntu and everything was fine at first. I wanted to get wireless working so I installed Wicd. Now every few seconds the whole thing freezes up for a few seconds. I can move the mouse and access Mod-a in order to 'quit', and I haven't tested what else I can do, but the open
