Oh nice! Yay!
My main feedback is can we have the same colors on the front page as the
others? black/gray and green on white background.
So now we cut a release and write a blog post?

Hi Justin
Thanks for raising this.
I had not even realized we failed to report in March. It seems the reminder
hasn't reached us because our name change finally had happened in March.
There is discussion in my inbox about the technical reasons for this, but

FYI I submitted a report to the wiki. It is mostly based on what I shared a
few weeks ago, so submitted it without further review or approvals. Updated
it to mention that our first release is now being voted on.

I downloaded and untarred the packages, checked signatures and was able to
do a pip install.
I also immediately want to change some default behavior :-DDD but this
works as documented and is correctly packaged so let's release it.

Thanks you Alex! How exciting...
Unfortunately when untaring the -sources.tar.gz I get a lot of this in
stderr:
tar: Ignoring unknown extended header keyword
'LIBARCHIVE.xattr.com.apple.provenance'
There are also several files like the following in the extracted directory:

TLDR: We should release only a single file, the source distribution, and
the file should be named apache-otava-0.6.0.tar.gz

This was not what we discussed (or I discussed, anyway ) a couple weeks ago.
In the prior attempt (RC3) we had the following files:
1. otava-0.6.0+incubating-py3-none-any.whl
2. otava-0.6.0+incubating-py3-none-any.whl.asc
3. otava-0.6.0+incubating-py3-none-any.whl.sha512
4. otava-0.6.0+incuba

Seems like Alexander did exactly that.
In the meantime we spent some time with Alex to understand why poetry and
also uv actually create files with underscores, not hyphens, for the name
part of the filename:
apache_otava-0.6.0-rc5.tar.gz
Looking at random pypi.org packages, this really

Dave: We intend to migrate to a newer python version now. In fact there
seems to already be another email thread about that. It was a conscious
decision to make a first release that mirrors the pre-ASF 0.5.0 release and
not do any other major upgrades. Changing the project name and legal files

This is not my area of expertise and somehow I have a feeling uv and poetry
are similar in this regard...
I would love to see a python tool that takes care of everything. To work on
Otava now, I first need to create a virtualenv with pyenv, then use poetry
to understand the .toml file, and in the
