One problem was that GNU make 3.8.1, which we use on the Linux buildbots, doesn't have the: $(file < ...) function. I've now changed it to use: $(shell cat ...) instead. This doesn't however explain why the Windows buildbot also failed in xmerge, as its GNU make is recent enough. Another problem w
