I am writing a book and am using Open Office Writer. When I insert a footer and put the number "1" in the footer of the 1st page the number "1" comes up again on the 3d, 5th, 7th pages. Is there some way that I can disable whatever is causing it to do that? Thank You, Gary Lenderman

Footer is different from footnotes. Please make sure that footer is what you want. In that case just go to Insert -> Footer -> Default. This will show an empty rectangle at the bottom of each page, it shoudlnt have any numbering unless you want to insert a page number by selecting Insert -> Fileds
