P.S. Just a thought, let's not hijack this mail thread initiated by Shane

LOL. I've updated the site to point to the new location for README:

Hi Shane,
This list looks outdated. README about how to update the list gives 404.
Can any Apache Project committer update it? If so, I could update this page
from time to time:
- Once I've shared Apache Ignite meetup link
- and I saw one request to update this list at com.dev list recently.

Awesome, thanks so much Shane for sharing this information.

Note that the ASF's VP of Conferences has a page that will list Meetups
and similar events that are run by Apache projects:

Hi All,
I appreciate this action started.
My experience related to FOAF files:
I didn't know about local mentors and FOAF until I visited community
development web site. I've tried to add, but that time it didn't work, so I
gave up.
+1 for asking people at Apache Con and

Dear all,
Thanks so much sharing your thoughts and providing kind inputs.
Soon, I will start working on documenting all this information, which will
help us in proceeding further and bring the ALC in action.

The company I do much work for has a large presence in Bangalore, and
regularly connect with those colleagues. Happy to push those connections
to get involved locally (and potentially schedule myself to be out there)

Hi Claude,
For committers: http://community.zones.apache.org/map.html
I see you in Galway …
Swapnil - putting Apache Locals on a similar map would be super cool.

Glad to hear from you Shane, thanks so much for your comments :)
I also feel the same, we need some more publicity for this.
We can share these details on committ...@apache.org list (so in case if any
committer is unaware of it, they will get to know).

If we had a laptop at the table at Apache con we could ask if people are
committers and if so see if they are listed. If not ask if they would
submit the FOAF file.

Thank you Peter and Vijay for your comments.
Yes, Meetup.com is a really good tool and it was also my preferred tool for
ALC meetups (thought travels :).

Hello Claude,
Thank you for showing your interest.
As per my thoughts, to build ALC, it is not necessary to have committers in
the area (if they are present, it will be good).
If you are *willing* to spread the awareness about ASF, The Apache Way, and
various Apache's projects in local students, d
As a developer in a small city (Galway, IE) I can't think of another Apache
developer in the area. I am certain there must be some and I know of OS
developers that are not Apache devs. Is there a mechanism where by Apache
committers may locate other committers in their area? Without this

Thanks very much Andrew for showing the interest.
Glad to hear from you Pranay, thanks so much for your comments.
@Team,
I will share more details on how to proceed further on this soon (waiting
for getting some more inputs from the community).

Thanks so much, Austin for showing the interest.
Agree with you on getting things done async/virtual is super important.
It is the soul of Apache, the ALC will not affect the functioning way of
ASF.

Will look forward to contributing and helping this flourish. In-Person
really does help build community -- even though (esp. for Apache) getting
things done async/virtual is super important.

Recently, I got the opportunity to explore the possibility of having
roadshow in India.
During this process, I faced some challenges in contacting the local Apache
