This could be related to OpenGL texture sizes or something similar.
Unity7 (Compiz) has workarounds to avoid that limitation. And Xfce
avoids it by not using hardware accelerated compositing at all (last I
checked). It's not surprising if only Gnome Shell hits a problem like
this...

I see this repeatedly in the logs. Just prior to the segfault,
NetworkManager is clearing out DNS information.

I think I found the issue:
#cat /etc/resolvconf.conf

The options edns0 is clearly invalid, so, once I commented it, it now works. I
can restart NetworkManager as often as I like and it appears to co
