@unrud: Your hunch was right. Increasing the delay (even to 2 seconds is
enough) resolves the issue. Even on your fresh installation, do check if
it works correctly with suspend/hibernate as well when the delay is not
more than one second.
I have gone back to gnome-screensaver for the time being,
I do not use Amarok 2.8.0 on 16.04, I use a local installation of
current git master, and Magnatune does certainly work well here, so this
is really a packaging problem of the distribution I would say.

I run with the same problem with my bluetooth speaker. Everytime I pair
it to my computer, GNOME Sound Setings defaults it to HSP/HSF and it
doesn't even register when I select A2DP, leaving me only with HSP/HSF
and its terrible sound quality.
