Some observations on Trusty:
The indicator always shows the correct layout even if the actual layout is not
the same.
In /etc/default/keyboard the setting is correct. The X-Server log says it set
the correct layout (de in my case).

Ok I figured out the problem. The volume keys on my laptop don't work
after I disconnect my laptop from HDMI. The solution that worked for me
is, I went to system settings -> sound and changed the profile under
hardware tab to "Analog Stereo Duplex"
Now the volume keys on my keyboard work again.

I can copy files to an iomega NAS connected to a Linksys Router but I
can not copy files from it.

drive in the Unity dock silently fails, because the partition is already

FWIW, I encountered a similar problem, using sssd instead of pam-krb5,
though. I can also confirm that the packages from the PPA make lightdm
correctly refresh Kerberos credentials and thus fix the issue I had. It
would be very welcome indeed if that fix made it into the trusty
repository proper.
Public bug reported:
After filtering and selecting a app window in the spread view, other windows in
the same workspace can't have menu bar
integration when maximized, i.e., their window title bar appears under the
unity menu bar, which can be seen from the attatched
screenshot.
