Ok, GNOME3 was not the cause, still had the problem after removing.
Went back and determined things changed since installing 12.10
distribution. Found that the real cause is the theme you are using. If
you set Adwaita or High Contrast or High Contrast Inverse the Data Table
banner looses it's clo
Cliff Carson, thank you for your comments. Is this reproducible if you
purge the GNOME3 ppa (ex. ppa-purge) and switch to a GUI provided by the
Ubuntu repositories (ex. Unity, gnome-shell, xfce, etc.)?

upgrade from 12.10 beta. Updated one of the systems from the 12.10
distribution level of 12.10 and the problem does not exists.

libreoffice-gtk3 was not installed. Just to try something, re-
installed libreoffice-gtk and still had the problem. Installed
libreoffice-gtk3 and still had the problem. Removed libreoffice and
installed the PPA level, still have the problem.
In all cases above doing right click and select clo

I tested this in Xubuntu 64-bit and still could not reproduce this
problem.

different look and feel (fonts and windows) but still had the Data Table
window banner without a way to close the window. Don't recall if I

The get into the condition start LibreOffice Impress, load the attached
document, edit the first chart (Electric Usage), and edit the data.
This bring up the Data Table window but there is no way that I can close
the window out after doing the edits. Will attach a screen shot of this
condition.

Used the System Monitor to end the officebin process since there was no
way to close the LibreOffice calc window. Started LibreOffice Pres
again, when through a sucessful recovery, and opened edit on the data
for the chart. The new data was in the table but again in the situation
that there was
