Just an update, for what it's worth.
I solved this problem with a shell script triggered by Network Manager's
"up" hook. Because UU does not update the package list, I had to resort
to a `apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade` with
`DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive` and a whole bunch of options to

(generic) and modules (generic) from https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-

kernel 5.10.1 and everything worked. So no special config or parameter
tweaking was necessary

UPDATE: 11h41GMT Fri 12 Jun 2020 Rob Jarvis: Freeze occured again today,
second time since original report. This time I was able to Alt+F2 and switch
into the desktop in focus in the 4-part desktop 'palette' view. This killed
the freeze. The freeze seems to be associated with 2 factors which

does fix the issue for me as well.
I observed that when the problem occurs, I can see multiple instances of
speech-dispatcher in Pavucontrol. Whenever I
help me get rid of this error box, comes up everytime. I was trying to
get access to adobe to download some coupons and I think that caused the
problem. I still can't load adobe to print.

For my case, with Bose QC35 bluetooth headphones, skip forward and
backward worked with no configuration, but play/pause didn't at all.
The workaround I found was to use xbindkeys with the help of xbindkeys-
config to set the following:
"xdotool key XF86AudioPlay"

in my ~/.xbindkeysrc.
