I have a similar circumstance with my HP 4530s
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core
Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0116] (rev 09)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI
Caicos [Radeon HD 640
*First reboot- went fine
*Second reboot- stuck on screen with one small white dash in top right
*Forced reboot with power button
*Third Reboot- Went fine
*At this point I switched back to the AMD card in case another reboot wouldn't
work. I need this computer this week. I read about the issues in

Alright. I tried that command and it is returning "ERROR: The
launchpadlib Python module is not installed. This functionality is not

I installed those packages from your PPA on a fresh reinstall of 12.10. I am
again in low-graphics mode after rebooting.

No. Everything works fine with the drivers shipped with Ubuntu by
default. The only issue is my laptop runs very hot and the battery only
lasts about 1 hour. In 12.04 this was solved by installing the
additional drivers supplied within Ubuntu.
I did this:
1. Installed fglrx through "Additional Dr
My laptop now reboots into low-graphics mode.

I don't recall if I tried installing fglrx-updates, but I did install
the intel driver and the fglrx.
The symptom after installing your drivers is low graphics mode. After
installing the official drivers I get the background with no window
borders and no menus.
In both of these attempts I install

These drivers are rpm files. In an attempt to convert them, I have
discovered that HP offers no drivers for 64-bit, only i386.
