Nevermind -- false alarm. It turns out the items are in the HUD only
when you first launch the program. As soon as you modify anything, they
don't show up in the HUD anymore. My mistake.

mailto link in Chromium, two unwanted things occur:
1. It opens a blank tab in the browser
2. It (correctly) opens a new message window in Thunderbird, but the window is
minimized--which is non-ideal,
I seem to be having this problem on Raring. LO writer has frozen and
then crashed on me three times now, and during the last one I noticed in
system monitor that unity-panel-service spiked in its CPU usage right
when the crash happened

Installing the libreoffice metapackage won't change anything about the
individual packages I already have, will it? (i.e., it won't overwrite
the current installs of writer, calc, etc.?). I have to use those
everyday, and if something messes up it would cause me a big headache.
