It was just a regular left click. I just checked it again, though, and now the new tab isn't opening; something must have been changed since I first posted.
Also, it seems that the new message window isn't minimized; it is just in the background. The Chromium window half-loses focus (it is no longer displayed in the top panel), but it remains on top. Minimizing it reveals the new message Thunderbird window behind it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to chromium-browser in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1191122 Title: Unnecessary tab opened on click of mailto links Status in “chromium-browser” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I have Thunderbird set as the default program for emails. When clicking a mailto link in Chromium, two unwanted things occur: 1. It opens a blank tab in the browser 2. It (correctly) opens a new message window in Thunderbird, but the window is minimized--which is non-ideal, and different from the behavior in 12.04. (2) (but not (1)) is also the case in Firefox, so I assume it's a problem with Thunderbird, not Chromium.
