Export in 2.8 crashed the same way as Save As in 2.6 for PNG (for me)
until I changed my display manager.
So I guess not all "GTK_IS_TREE_MODEL (tree_model)' failed" errors are
equal. But I'm glad we both have a working GIMP again :)

Sorry, at the moment I have my plate full with field work in the Amazon,

I bypassed the root folder of the ext. USB HDD by typing the address
into Nautilus directly (i.e.: /media/disk/subfolder) and it showed up
