I agree with the reporter. If you open say a CD with a large folder of photos,
eog quite happily eats all available CPU, I/O and memory caching the photos in
the folder.
The intention of caching is to improve responsiveness however what ends up
happening is that eog uses lots of virtual memory.
Alright, so cupsys should provide a small script which does the configuration,
similar to /usr/share/cups/enable_browsing (probably enable_sharing), and
gnome-cups-manager and KDE need to integrate this into the GUI.

Dan,
right, I have no idea about firewire video editing, but I believe I have some
idea about system security. A group 'raw1394' wouldn't change all that much,
since it still leaves loopholes to get full root privileges. If you trust your

Ah, great, so we surrounded the culprit at least. :)
So let's do the strace dance for these two helpers. Please restart hal (just

default installation, it's just too dangerous. The easiest way to make it work

'disk' to 'video' or 'plugdev').
I know that this sucks, but

Usually hard disk partitions should be mounted through /etc/fstab (with
'auto'), that's how the installer sets them up. So nautilus should just
not display unmounted nonremovable drives.
** Summary changed:
- Nautilus(pmount) refuses to mount non removable media
+ do not show unmounted nonremovab
h.
I think the current solution is reasonable, therefore I'm closing this
bug. It might become better in the future when this warning becomes
configurable (see bug 33967).

Pascal: the package is available for quite some time now. "Fix
committed" means I have a fix and prepared a package to upload. "Fix
released" means it's in the archive.

Sorry, the archive still does not have fixed binaries. Only the source
is on the mirror, apparently the buildds need a manual kick to actually
built the new package. Reopening bug until that's fixed.

Hi
I think I've got the same problem, although I don't have xubunt-default-
settings installed (same error).
