desktop. Further to that recent dailies for Xubuntu and Mate both fail
to start a working desktop either by:
1 - booting Try option from the first menu
2 - booting Try option from the Try/Install dialogue

I've downloaded the patched kernels for both Xenial and Yakkety.
For both I tested copying to drive and ejecting. Also tested just
mounting and ejecting.
In both it worked as expected - no re-mounting of the drive after
ejecting.

Opened a virtual machine.
Installed synaptic.
Logged out an in.
Got gnome-software to install the alarm clock applet - then removed it.
Gnome-software is still running at this point.
Opened synaptic - no dpkg lock
Started installing alarm clock in synaptic and gnome-software - trying
to keep
to be honest - I have no idea what USC actually does.
Given that the dependencies aren't there to autoremove I would assume
that it does do that.
