Logged out an in. Got gnome-software to install the alarm clock applet - then removed it. Gnome-software is still running at this point. Opened synaptic - no dpkg lock Started installing alarm clock in synaptic and gnome-software - trying to keep start to a minumum (small app) Hit start in both.
