The developers for the braesero thinks they have found the cause of your
bug. They wish to know if this is happening for all music CDs that you
have or not. Particularly, they suspect that the problem is related to
CDs that have what is known as CD-TEXT. Maybe older music CD does not
spirituality, which volume control applet did you add? If it is loading very
slowly, it is likely the incorrect applet.
The problem with the sound setting not being remembered is currently being
investigated, and it doesn't seem to happen to everyone.

Frans, if you know how, please check to see if the slmodemd daemon is
running. If it is running., you need to shut it off. If you don't know
how to do that, let me know and I'll write up a description.

Your description sound like a problem with the installation. Might I
suggest a fresh install? So long as you can't boot into the correct
kernel, you can't get the right sound drivers running.

Ok, well, I am glad you found a solution. Maybe you could submit your
profile configuration to the pulseaudio group. That way, Ubuntu can
make sure that your kind of hardware is properly configured in the next
Ubuntu release.
