This bug was bothering me too much and because of other (unrelated) reasons I decided to reinstall Ubuntu 11.04. After I reinstalled I did an apt-get update; apt-get dist-upgrade and rebooted. After the system was restarted the problem did not present itself. I will check if it comes back as I ins

I finally found out the issue! It turns out it has something to do with xdg-user-dirs. When Ubuntu was first installed, it created the usual xdg-user-dirs such as Desktop, Documents, Downloads, etc. etc. It also creates a Templates folder, for which I have no use. However, I like the little icon i
