Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

1) $ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu Natty (development branch)
Release: 11.04

(But if I recall correctly, it was also an issue in Maverick and earlier
releases)

2) $ apt-cache policy nautilus
nautilus:
  Installed: 1:2.32.2.1-0ubuntu13
  Candidate: 1:2.32.2.1-0ubuntu13
  Version table:
 *** 1:2.32.2.1-0ubuntu13 0
        500 http://it.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main i386 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) I connected a USB drive in my computer that has just been formatted
as FAT using Ubuntu. Then I open Nautilus, show the Tree view in the
left column, open some folder and try do drag & drop a file from the
opened folder to the item corresponding to the USB drive in the Tree
view. I expected Nautilus to allow me to copy or move a file like this.

4) Instead, Nautilus doesn't allow this. If I drag & drop over any other
item in the Tree view it works (including sub folders of the USB drive).
Over the root of the USB drive it doesn't. If I change from the Tree
view to the Places view, I can drag & drop over the USB drive without a
problem.
