I've made a workaround python script which switches layout itself using
`gsettings` command. Apparently, it helped some people reduce the delay
(including myself), so I'm going to post it here. Though, I don't know
why it works.

I'm experiencing this bug on elementary OS 5.0. After looking through
different reports I can see that it comes from ubuntu.
Sad that there seems to be no progress on its resolution after several
years :(
Did somebody found a workaround with setxkbmap or something else?

When using big numbers, the value is just incorrectly aligned. Copying

Well, if the user set it to 10 secs they probably want it to be 10
seconds.
Also, the actual timing is off. For example during the countdown, gdm
auto logs the user in after 8 seconds, so the timing is still off.

Ok, I upgraded to Hardy today and the problem is gone. Sorry for taking
your time.
But on Gutsy, I just had an image on my desktop and I renamed it, which
caused the thumbnail to be replaced by a default image, and back into
the thumbnail. But the problem is gone in 2.22, so nothing to worry
about

I can confirm that upgrading xkb-data package to version 2.5-1ubuntu1.5
in LTS 12.04.4 doesn't resolve the problem. When I disable the mentioned
fix in ~/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css (F10 is disabled in terminal keyboard
combinations), F10 press still opens context menu as if Shift-F10 was
pressed.

worked it around? I've tried most of options suggested in this thread,

Actually this bug wasn't fixed in precise.
I'm using Ubuntu 12.04.1 with GNOME Classic and Compiz.
First opened terminal have the size of 80x24, all subsequent terminal windows
are 80x22.

There is one way to temporary fix it.
Start gnome-screensaver in console, and you can lock the screen.
But unfortunatly, screensaver segfault after unlock the screen.

Binary package hint: brasero
Steps to reproduce a problem:
1. Starting a Brasero and choose to write a data dvd
2. Choose files to be written by drag and drop from nautilus
3. Writing disk on 4.0x
Problems
1. DVD burned at 2.2x-2.7x
2. After finishing burning stage appearing
Lunched brasero with your command and all described above was there.
I wasn't interrupt a checking process so all burning process takes for me a
four times much time as it must be on my hardware.
Log file was extremly big for my internet connection, so I has zipped it.
