Because I've tested going back to 8.04.1? I could tell you about 7.10,
but I don't have it installed anymore.

Yes. Works as expected using any of Autodetect, OSS, ALSA and
PulseAudio.

OK, I have tested this on both Intrepid and Jaunty. Have not yet gone
back to Hardy. Tested as follows:
1) Select a .tgz.
2) Right-click on the archive to verify that Open With "Archive Manager" is
present
3) Click on a PDF file.
4) Move the mouse back to hover over the the .tgz and hit Shi
And now I've gone back and tested on Hardy, as well.

Thanks for the recordmydesktop demo.
So it is not about the content of the menu, but about where the menu
appears on the screen. And, yes, now that I understand the complaint, I
am able to reproduce the objectionable behavior.

FWIW, I've just seen this with totem in Jaunty. Switching from
gstreamer backend to xine backend took care of it.

The bug can be left valid by changing it, properly, to refer to gvfs or

In Hardy and Intrepid, it is in python-gnome2-desktop, as can be seen
from http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/amd64/python-
gnome2-desktop/filelist and http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/amd64
/python-gnome2-desktop/filelist.
That and other files disappeared with Jaunty:

Confirmed that a local build resolves the missing file.
Not sure of all is working, though. I'm having a problem with the
Zeroconf Discovery Applet hanging when I try to add it to the panel.

This is not a duplicate of Bug 275957, even if the major consequence is
the same. Bug 275957 is about a SIGSEGV in gnome-screensaver. That is
