I don't quite understand the change made to the gnome-terminal:
- Confirmation asked when closing a single non-tabbed terminal.
- No confirmation asked when closing multiple tabbed terminals.
Why? Should't it be the other way?

I´m not able to reproduce this.
When the issue was happening, I tried to name the folder 3 times as
"0-9". All 3 times the Nautilus window closed (crash?) and the folder
name remained "untitled folder".
BTW, /var/crash is empty. Any other place to look?

I am suffering from this bug, too.
I read at several places in the net that updating to a newer kernel would help,
as you mentioned.
I don't want to update the kernel, as long as there is no official update for
virtualbox.
But even in 12.04.3 there is no update for virtualbox. Also

If you configure your DHCP to deliver multiple search domains (option 15
on MS DHCP), then, after each ifdown-ifup/reboot/disconnect-reconnect
using nm, you get the commas between the search domains on
/etc/resolv.conf. I have 3 ubuntu 9.10 at home and 1 9.10 at work; all
show the same behavior.

First of all I cannot imagine that KDE got a quite well working component to
implement the desktop-enty-spec (namely kbuildsycoca4) and GNOME depends on
update-desktop-database only. The mentioned spec does not even enforce a policy

KDE does detect it and any KDE app would be able to access this data, so
if fspot was a KDE application all this would work perfectly fine. But
since fspot is a GNOME app it apparently relies on GIO to read the
desktop-file database, which is not present, because KDE doesn't create
or update that f

Every month or so it occurs (a system, that is never shut down) What I
do is that I ssh in from another box and kill the high-load process. If
I can't find out which one it is (happened once), I restart X.
I think it is related to that I have an nVidia Quadro NVS 450 with three
displays and Ubuntu
KDM 4.7 should export DESKTOP_SESSION=foo, where foo is the name of the
desktop file foo.desktop. Thus it should work just fine in Oneiric.

Well, honestly I think this is a rather poinless change for 3 reasons:
a) Different decodes possibly can lead to different volumes (say you use Amarok
and VLC, they use different libraries to decode the media files, so 100% might
not be what VLC considers 100%).
b) I am no HCI specialist, but my
Karmic&Lucid:
Kaffeine: 100%
Dragonplayer: 100%
Now since apparently movies aren't as loud as music (or so the claim ;))
I suppose it makes sense that Amarok comes with 80%. Also in Amarok 2.3
the volume slider is art of its own and looks way better with 80 ;)

GNOME doesn't use gnome-applications.menu like suggested in the desktop

This stuff should be taken care of by the evolution package.
Also linking stuff from /etc to $HOME is nonesense as everything in
$HOME should be writeable by $USER, which is not the case for fiels from
/etc. Also /usr/share/application is to be used recursive, so symlinking
/kde to .. doesn't make

I just did a clean install of raring and also observed that the empathy
GUI does not come up. This seems to be connected with the option '-h',
which is how I put it into the autostart list. Without '-h' it opens as
expected but, of course, also when you log in - which I would like to
avoid.
