I'm following this bug having seen it on my Hardy install. Any chance this
fix makes it into Hardy as well?

I just did a check with Totem in Hardy, and I can still reproduce the
behavior. Streaming a movie through the network did work, even scrolling
through the movie with the mousewheel. But placing the glider halfway by
dragging, the movie stops playing. I get about two screen-refreshes per
minute, and
I "me too" on this one as well, but the workaround mentioned above does
not work for me. My ~/.gvfs folder is empty (the share is mounted using
Locations >> Mount Network Share and then bookmarked). Clicking the
bookmark makes me browse the drive without problems (apart from some

Sorry, should have added a little more data. I have this issue on one of
those cheap NAS devices too. It's a Conceptronic LAN drive (probably
using the same chipset as all the other LANdisks mentioned).

Hey, thanks for your quick reply. I may have been too quick with posting
this bugreport. Yesterday Evolution behavior was all over the place, but
now on a fresh reboot, I can't reproduce either. Sorry for not double
checking. You may close this one as being bogus ;-)

I also had this empty Screens and Graphics, so I tried the fix suggested
here. I wasn't that fortunate... My X was all garbled up, and
displayconfig-gtk showed up (almost unreadable) to help me fix the
problem. In the end, it couldn't fix it, so I had to do a dpkg-

Just to chime in: I had exactly the same behaviour yesterday. Small

stolen by the application icons that have disappeared behind the menu.

I just retested it in my Hardy beta system. Dragging a file into

the other files just fine (even if the window is completely filled with

Ah, finally I get what you are saying (pardon me being slow ;-)). Yes,
that is not possible now. I've grown a habit of working around this

I can't see why this is not a bugreport. The button doesn't function
properly unless I move the mouse cursor away from it, and then back on
it. That doesn't seem to be intuitive, and I can't imagine it to be
default / intended behaviour. Maybe this is not synaptics, but GTK+

I'm in need of that very answer too! When doing auto-logon, the keyring
manager pops up asking for a password (it's the same password used for
logging on) - so the ease of autologon is completely undone.
