I'm still facing this problem. I just switched to 19.10 and the snap package
has been installed. It does not work.
I tried to do the "snap connect chromium:u2f-devices" but this will not solve

I (original reporter) have reported the bug upstream, using bashbug... but I

I can basically confirm this, but the behaviour on my system is slightly

* The hyperactivity of the cpu is shared between gnome-system-monitor (~50%)
and dbus-daemon (~40%).

I can confirm this on Xubuntu Karmic (9.10, final, up to date on 2009-11-16).
Additionally to the procedure that lightrush describes:

system. I quickly zoomed to maximum and minimum with ctrl and the right part of

Funny. Today it constantly switches to /minimum/ brightness when I touch
it after the specified time. And turning off the feature (sliding the
appropriate slider to the very left) does not stop this... The logic of
these algorythms should be thoroughly checked.

I observed the same problem after upgrading to Ubuntu 24.10, also on the
Nvidia 560 driver.
What's interesting is that running 'sudo nautilus' doesn't produce the X

I also would like to see the default behavior changed to display the
text files.
As most scripts which are set as executable are bash or sh scripts which make
their output to a terminal it is useless to run them directly. Also the option
"Run in a terminal" is useless because the terminal is clo

Hallo,
the standby timer for HDDs is maybe a little bit broken.
It works fine if I set it to 8 minutes or less.
If I set it above 10 minutes the timer does not send the HDDs to standby any
more.
It's two Samsung Spinpoint HDDs, just for Data. No active programms.

as i already told, Brother_MFC-J6510DW is a strange printer! paper feed
an ADF is rotated by 90° against each other. but only the printer should
be interested in that.
KDE printing works.
what is the difference from LO and KDE printing? they use the same
printer driver, cups, ...

and as a remember:
printing the odt as an pdf with okular (kde pdf-reader) 2 pages per
sheet does the job as it should be.

When ibus-mozc for Japanese input is installed and activated in gedit I
cannot choose the symbols with TAB. Instead gedit just writes a TAB.
Also with clicking on the symbol I cannot choose them.
This way I cannot use gedit and ibus-mozc because I can just type
Hiragana and K

and didn't find any. I'd be surprised a lot, to be honest, because
that'd be wrong and I probably would've gotten a very wrong result at
some point because I rely on calculators having implemented the correct
order of operation
