As I said, I've reinstalled all awn packages but still no progress.
I'll run that gconftool-2 command later tonight for the untouched
install. In the current boot I've tried to reset key values but the
command awn-settings after some resets pointed to other awn settings
under /apps/avant-window-n
Nope, no progress.
Now sitting with all awn keys unassigned even after an awn complete reinstall!
There's some strange going on, but I'll have a deeper look at it
tomorrow.

Made another Lucid install from the today's build.
Installing awn then resulted in all awn gconf key default values being
unassigned (no value). Starting up awn-settings failed as well. The
current awn version was released about two weeks ago so it's most
probably an awn bug.

You're right Sebastien. The reason why I flagged it as Jaunty was that
this problem neither appears in Intrepid nor Hardy. But it might be
present in Gutsy, haven't checked it yet.

The Nautilus crash when clicking the close button is due to one of the
overlay-scrollbar packages. Don't know which one but running without those
overlay-scrollbar packages works. So it seems to be an inconsistency in the

I've noticed the same (similar) issue for unity-2d, gnome-panel
(fallback) and gnome-shell even though it's harder to reveil the
nautilus menu behind those main panels. So it's more likely a
nautilus/gtk issue.

I've tried all the suggestions with no luck but once.
No proxy is used.
That once when (for the n:th time) I deleted ~/.gconf the weather info
popped up again both in the Clock and in the Weather Report. Tested both
reboots and logout/login and it still
More investigations show that in my case (not behind proxy) the problem
is that my ISP DNSes bar IWS servers, i.e DNS lookups fail for some
reason. Switching e.g to Googles public DNSes makes it work again. Thus,
this is my workaround until my ISP fixes this issue.
