Audio and Video-chat doesn't work at all

As described above. For example it happens to me when I want to save a
document. The control-buttons (Save, Print etc.) are not fully shown. It
doesn't happen only to evince but to several other gnome-apps (evolution etc
...).
I'll attach a screenshot to clarify what I mean

Cheese works fine as well. Skype just presents me one webcam (my webcam)
to choose: "VF0700 Live! Cam Chat HD (/dev/video0)".

I've got some news. Yesterday next to one of my contacts who is using
the same jabber server and the same client (Empathy) the webcam symbol
was shown. I haven't had the time to try to call him but will try it
later. But still I can't call all my other jabber and Googletalk
contacts.

My contact, mentioned in the last post, tried to call me. But it didn't
work ("Es kann kein Audio-Strom aufgebaut werden. Could not establish
connection."). I tried to call him as well (as I mentioned above, this
contact is the only one where the menu entries are not grayed out) with
the same resul
Ok, the connection problem seems to be a a cause of the old empathy
version of my contact (he is using Debian).
