Tested by moving and copying a directory of 64845 files - 47,7GB large, three
times from and to my usual samba server.
No issues experienced, the bug is fixed for me.

As suggested by a file-roller developer, I tried to create new archives in the
samba share from other applications. It showed that Nautilus has no problems in
creating new folders and files from templates.
Then, I also tried saving a new file directly from Libreoffice Writer, Calc and
Impress, G
I tried saving from The Gimp, Libreoffice and Mozilla applications
directly to /run/user//gvfs/ and it worked.
I also installed the Calligra suite and tried saving from the various
Flow, Stage and Sheets applications to the share using their share
browser and it worked.
Then, I tried saving an ar
I tried using the nautilus shortcut and also tried copying from
/run/user//gvfs/. No difference whatsoever.
I also think gvfs might be involved, too.

Today I tried to copy my big directory from the share straight to a usb
drive. It worked without a hitch. I'm not sure how it could be useful,
but it's worth sharing nevertheless.

Here are the results of some tests run on a Raring desktop and a Precise
server, both updated today.
copying a directory with few large files (18 files - 53GB): no issues
moving the same directory: no issues
copying a directory with many small files (48236 files - 17,1 GB): no issues
moving the
OK, this looks interesting.
Transferred another 26678 files, 48,3 GB without issues.
gvfsd-smb memory usage grew from about 3 to 15 Mb, and nautilus' from 10 to
about 50Mb during the copy.
At the end of the copy, I noticed that neither process had released any memory.
So I started a second copy.
I'm also wondering why this bug is being ignored. Everybody posting here
please don't forget to mark this bug as affecting you. I don't know of
another way to bring this to the devs attention.

my 12.04 server using raring 32 bit in virtualbox. Maybe not an example
of rigorous testing, but I had no issues. Raring updated to today's
snapshot.

Mostly solved after updating kernel to version 3.0.0-15
Now, the only small issue is that the OSD has many more notches than the screen
has actual brightness levels.
This is noticeable only when lowering brightness, though. When raising it, it
is mostly sync'ed correctly.
