I am meeting with the same errors in my ~/.xsession-errors file, against
files belonging to x11-common. Here is what I get:

Almost nine years after this bug was reported and another user telling
us that he did not see the reported issue I can say that when using
Ubuntu 22.04 I do not see the issue that Wise_Melon reported.
As Wise_Melon no longer uses Ubuntu I cannot ask for further information
so closing as 'Invalid'.

I have the same problem. I upgraded Ubuntu 22.04 to version 24.04, since
then sometimes after logging in the desktop does not appear, only the X
cursor on a black background.
I switched to the console by pressing ctrl + alt + f3 and restarted the
computer with the reboot command.
Then it works fo
